Biography

I am Anisa Sahhar. I am the dance...
It is the Oldest Dance, rising from the ancient desert regions of the Middle East & North Africa, its styles and traditions are continued throughout the Modern World. New forms of the dance are evolving as we incorporate our own Life experience with the steps and styles of our teachers, and theirs before them.

My background in modern dance and music prepared me for this exciting form of dance, which resonated with me like no other. I first got caught in the enchanting web of Oriental Dance in 1979. Since then I have danced in creative film productions and at restaurants, local festivals and New Age Fairs, Rituals and Healings, benefits and family gatherings, corporate New Years Eve's and Hubby's birthday.

My years of learning, performing and teaching I enjoy melding various styles and steps from different regions to create my own style.

I currently offer classes in the San Francisco Bay Area. See the Classes page for a current class schedule. I offer private instruction and performances.
